This was the first model US Navy cold weather deck jacket issued in the 1930’s to Sub crews in the North Atlantic for it’s superb warmth and mobility in tight spaces and worn throughout WWII. It was replaced in the early 1940's by what’s now known as the N-1, first in blue then in khaki and green to broaden its use to Navy personnel serving on shore.
Ours are made exactly like the original Mod-1 pattern from Heavy cotton Bedford cord and a 100% wool lining with wool knit cuffs, collar and waistbands and Talon zipper. Also used in several WWII movies, the latest of which was ‘Midway’. It is a superbly made jacket beyond its authenticity and can be worn everyday as just a great jacket.
