We’re probably gonna get a lot of flak on these new kombis from people claiming we’re trying to sell them as originals. But what the Hell…all you have to do is look at the price. An original Kombi like this would sell for well over $30,000 if it were made in the war years.

But we’re making these right here in our Los Angeles shop with the intention of selling them to our high-end collectors. Even though we know that some of them will probably end up in militaria shows as originals. Because when aged properly (like we do for the movies) they look exactly like a clean, moderately worn original. Down to the smallest (hard to find) details that collectors look for, and that 99% never even notice.

Like the occasional “jump thread stitch” on the shoulder loops (like on many originals that occurred when the sewer didn’t bother to stop and snip the stitch before repositioning the machine to stitch the other side of the loop. Or the uniquely-sewn thread grommets that reinforce the metal loop buttons (secured with an “S” slider). Not to mention the authentic maker stamps on the inside pockets (that you may not ever see unless you reverse the kombi to the other side, which incidentally are in complete alignment, so it’s easy to do. Not like the others out there that don’t line up.

We don’t deny that we go overboard on the details sometimes, but that’s one of the few pleasures we get in this crazy ballbusting business. Ordinary, we’re not.
